21 – Taking The Coast Road Towards Rome

We were planning to drive to Rome to meet Dad who was due to arrive at Ciampino airport.  We decided to make a day outing of it, by taking a different route via Sabaudia / San Felice Circeo along the coast road towards Rome.  First we stopped for a spot of lunch at a beachside restaurant  called “Saporetti”  near Torre Paola, and took in some fresh sea air.

We then continued on our leisurely drive on through the sand dunes, towards Rome.  Eventually we arrived in Anzio, in time for a little “passeggiata” around the town centre where there was a food festival in full swing.

There were stalls laden with an vast array of tantalising, tasty delicacies, such as:  autumn fungi, chestnuts,  walnuts, squashes, pickles and preserves, cheeses, salamis and cured meats, sausages, bread and cakes, chocolates.  Yummy !!!
