35 – 23 December 2008

ptjThe next morning we drove across the Severn Bridge to collect our two grandsons for the day.  My how they had grown !!! We went back to Bristol to do a spot of last minute Christmas shopping.  We found that Bristol has changed so much over the last few years, as we visited the new Shopping Mall at Cabot Circus / Broadmead.

That evening we got together with our two sons and Ben’s girlfriend Emma, for a special meal at a country pub in the village Rudry between Cardiff and Pontypridd, named the Maenllwyd Inn.  The traditional “olde” atmosphere was warm and Christmassy.

Paul delighted in sampling some of the Real Ales on tap, decent beer being something sadly lacking in Italy.  The menu and food were excellent, although due to it being near to Christmas we did have to wait some time to be allocated a table.

We think it would be a great place to go for a good Sunday Lunch.  Rudry is situated on the top of a hill so in daylight you see can scenic views of the valley below.
