Paul and Louise were gracious and accommodating hosts. When we arrived from Rome we had not eaten, and they sent over some food. That first evening (as we hadn’t gotten to town yet for groceries) they took us with them to eat at a wonderful local eatery. The apartment was clean, nicely furnished and situated in a peaceful olive grove-a welcome respite for us US city dwellers!
The view was gorgeous from our balcony where we watched the sun set every night. Their dog Max was an early riser (like me) and spent each morning on the balcony with me laying in the sun while I read and ate breakfast, after he “knocked” on the gate to come in. Throughout our stay both Paul and Louise were friendly and helpful and Paul took the time to get us to Sperlonga (wonderful beach nearby), into the town of Itri and when our plans to see Pompeii were derailed they took us sightseeing in Gaeta.
No need to travel to the pricey Amalfi Coast. The South Lazio region is just as if not more beautiful and less crowded and expensive. We are already planning our return trip for hopefully within the next year. And we will stay with Paul and Louise again.

We had a quiet and peaceful rest at this apartment. Just what we were looking for! The apartment looks just like the photos and the outdoors are as inviting as the photos. Too bad it was not hot enough to swim. But the children loved the garden and the lizards. Paul and Louise are kind and informative as to what is in the area as well as fun background stories which make the stay even more memorable. The beach is close as well as the small towns. A good choice where you can get to do things and come back to a quiet, safe place. We would recommend this as a wonderful, restful spot.

Louise and Paul made us feel welcomed! The directions to their house was perfect, it wasn´t difficult to find it. The area was beautiful with olive trees as long as you can see. They have a lot of dogs but it wasn´t a problem for us, and our daughter really liked watching them. They had made a “guide book” to what to see and do around Itri. It was really helpful! This is a really good place to stay at if you have children! And it is a nice place to stay if you want to relax and take it easy. We could really recommend it!

Tre Cancelle is a lovely place lost in the mountains in the middle of an olive field. The apartments are clean and you find anything you need in them : either to cook or to wash or to swim in the very convenient and also very clean swimming-pool. The location is just perfect to visit Rome and Naples by train or car. The surroundings are lovely too because you’re between sea and mountains. But I’d say that the best of it all surely is to get the chance to meet Louise and Paul, the owners of Tre Cancelle who are some of the most lovely and helpful people I’ve ever met in my life. It is really worth to get there just even to meet them both ! Hopefully I’ll be back soon !!! Lydia (and the rest of the family !)
July 2014 – Paula Gibbs, Harrogate – TripAdvisor
My family and I stayed here for a fortnight in July 2014. It turned out to be the perfect place for us and our children aged 12, 9 and 7 to stay. Right from the beginning Paul and Louise made us feel so welcome. As we were arriving late they got some shopping supplies in for us. The apartment was really comfortable, clean and well equipped. There was no air-conditioning but the flat stayed nice and cool. The view from the terrace of the olive grove and the surrounding mountains was really beautiful, especially at sunset. The stars in the night sky were amazing and also the fire flies.
The children were so happy to spend lots of time in the pool, while we were able to watch them from the balcony and we could just chill and relax with a book and a glass of wine. Some days we did all go out to visit some of the sandy beaches, which were only a short drive away. We were well impressed. Itri was lovely too, we would often go for a stroll around the town in the evening and tried out all the ice-cream flavours.
We chose to stay at Tre Cancelle because we wanted to visit Rome, Naples and Pompeii. We found it easy and convenient to go on day trips to these places. The train tickets were surprisingly cheap. Paul kindly dropped us off and picked us up from the train station. We also visited Montecassino Abbey by car which was magnificent. Well worth a visit. We visited many of the neighbouring towns and villages and especially enjoyed Sperlonga, Gaeta and Campodimele. Louise has written an amazing guide book with photos of the area which we found really interesting and helpful. Indeed, Paul and Louise were always available to help us if we had any queries and went out of their way to make our stay very special one. The kids haven’t stopped talking about it. We really do hope to come back soon.
